What do you focus on most in your classes?
I focus on sensible movements and sequencing with concise and understandable verbal cueing. As much as coordination and choreography play a role in Pilates, I hope to break down complicated movement patterns into simple concepts that set people up for success. I love a good creative sequence as much as the next person, but only if they serve a clear end goal - not just for the sake of being fancy, and without having a clear "why".
What is your approach to teaching Pilates?
I design classes with a focus on technique, flow, and awareness - expect quick and intuitive transitions, few rest breaks, and a set of challenging repertoire for clients at any point of their Pilates journey.
My goal is to guide my clients to work intelligently and efficiently, with as little tension as possible. This means detailed setup cues and emphasis on felt sensation, in order to give people the freedom and the information they need to make their own decisions on what their bodies need that day.
How would you describe your teaching style?
Technique-driven, challenging, intentional, focused, and fun. People also say I speak and count slowly, but I can neither confirm nor deny this statement.
What do you want clients to leave your class feeling?
Proud that they took time out of their day to show up for themselves, with more mental clarity than they walked in with, and of course, already craving their next session.
Outside the studio, what keeps you feeling your best?
Staying active while still prioritising recovery, so a combination of Pilates, running, weight training, yoga, TCM, and walking my dog. And of course, getting a good night's sleep.
What’s a value or mindset you try to live by?
Be consistent in the things that make you happy, surround yourself with things and people you love, and laugh a lot.
