How did you get into Pilates?
My first love was strength training and yoga, and like a lot of people, the wear and tear on my body made me crave a movement modality that focused on core work and muscular endurance, while also being gentle on the joints.
I found Pilates to be the perfect addition to my fitness regime - not only does it deliver on the strength aspects, but its focus on alignment was a refreshing and meditative way to listen to and connect with my body. It’s this alignment of mind and body that’s kept me hooked ever since.
What do you love about it?
I believe most of us have come out of a Pilates class feeling utterly humbled before, and as much as Pilates gets a reputation as being gentle and soft, there’s an element of tough love to it that is hard to explain - it makes you come face to face to the imbalances and compensations that you might have been unknowingly depending on in your daily life or other forms of exercise. And to me, that makes each breakthrough in my practice all the more gratifying.
What do you want clients to leave your class feeling?
Proud that they took time out of their day to show up for themselves, with more mental clarity than they walked in with, and of course, already craving their next session.
What makes your classes unique and sweaty?
I design classes with a focus on technique, flow, and awareness - expect quick and intuitive transitions, few rest breaks, and a set of challenging repertoire for clients at any point of their Pilates journey.
Favourite workout other than Pilates?
Weight training, yoga, and walking my dog.
